India has started jabbing coronavirus vaccines in about 300,000 shoulders today. But doubts still remain over transparency and efficacy in one of the world’s largest vaccine drives.
Resident doctors of #RamManoharLohia Hospital on Saturday demanded that they be given the #Covishield vaccine instead of #Covaxin as the former has completed its Phase 3 trials. Covaxin, developed by #BharatBiotech, is yet to complete its last stage trials.
The doctors also said that they would not participate in the vaccination process if they are administered the Bharat Biotech vaccine. The Serum Institute is the local maker of the other vaccine, Covishield, developed by Oxford University and pharmaceuticals company AstraZeneca.
भारत ने आज लगभग 300,000 कंधों में कोरोनोवायरस के टीके लगाने शुरू कर दिए हैं। लेकिन दुनिया की सबसे बड़ी वैक्सीन ड्राइव में से एक में पारदर्शिता और प्रभावकारिता पर अभी भी संदेह बना हुआ है। राम मनोहर लोहिया अस्पताल के रेजिडेंट डॉक्टरों ने शनिवार को मांग की कि उन्हें कोवाक्सिन के बजाय कोविशिल्ड वैक्सीन दिया जाए क्योंकि पूर्व ने अपने चरण 3 का परीक्षण पूरा कर लिया है। भारत बायोटेक द्वारा विकसित कोवाक्सिन को अपने अंतिम चरण के परीक्षणों को पूरा करना बाकी है। डॉक्टरों ने यह भी कहा कि अगर वे भारत बायोटेक वैक्सीन का प्रबंध करते हैं तो वे टीकाकरण प्रक्रिया में भाग नहीं लेंगे। सीरम इंस्टीट्यूट ऑक्सफोर्ड यूनिवर्सिटी और फार्मास्यूटिकल्स कंपनी AstraZececa द्वारा विकसित अन्य वैक्सीन, कॉविशिल्ड का स्थानीय निर्माता है।
